Concept information

Preferred term

moral behavior in electronic games

Definition(s)

  • In February 2002, a neo-Nazi media group advertised the release of Ethnic Cleansing, a computer game in which the objective is to kill “sub-humans” (read Blacks and Latinos) and their “masters,” Jews. Although this game is an extreme example, it highlights the moral ambiguity that can be found in many electronic games—whether it is expressed through violence, sexism, racism, or anti-Semitism.
