- En algèbre générale, une algèbre de Jordan est une algèbre sur un corps commutatif, dans laquelle l'opération de multiplication interne, ( x , y ) → ( x ⋅ y ) a deux propriétés : 1. elle est commutative, c’est-à-dire que x ⋅ y = y ⋅ x, 2. elle vérifie l'identité suivante, dite identité de Jordan : ( x ⋅ y ) ⋅ ( x ⋅ x ) = x ⋅ ( y ⋅ ( x ⋅ x ) ).
