- 1) Mécanique : un mouvement vacillant d'un corps rigide tournant, tandis qu'il précesse autour de son axe vertical. 2) Astro. : un léger mouvement de hochement de l'axe de rotation terrestre, qui a une période principale de 18.6 ans. Il est principalement causé par des perturbations lunaires, et est superposé à la précession des équinoxes et déplace l'équinoxe jusqu'à 17" avant ou derrière sa position moyenne.
